Hi everyone!! I'm super excited today... because my very first post as a DT member at the Sweet Stamp Shop goes live today!!!
Here's a look at the two projects I made with the theme of stars and pinwheels:
You might be able to guess from the photo that I’ll be concentrating on stars and pinwheels - so of
course I grabbed the “Wheely Like You” stamp set! I stamped a bunch of
pinwheels, both large and small, and fussy cut them out. I also cut a whole
bunch of stars using my Cameo – you could use any punches you have, or even cut
them out by hand!
I had a general idea of the design I wanted, so I lay it out
on my paper, without gluing anything down yet.
After doing this, I realized that two photos was a bit too
much, and that even after adding layers under my photo, the background was just
a bit distracting. I removed one photo, and then... gesso to the rescue! I simply
brushed some on, behind where the photo was going to go. This muted the color
of the stars down just enough to let the photo stand out, and also adds some awesome texture.
I also cut out a little library pocket for some hidden
journaling I could write on a tag because there wasn’t a good place in the
background to write. I used a freebie cut file from Chic Tags which you can
find here.
For a little added interest, I thought the skyline
silhouette stamp from the brand new "Super Mom" set would be perfect stamped in
silver ink on vellum. It was a bit of work fussy cutting it out, but I think it
was so worth it!
And here’s a look at my finished layout!
For my cards, I used some leftover pieces I had from the layout.
